Tiruchirappalli Forest Officials Risk Lives to Rescue Juvenile Gaur; Video Shared by IAS Officer Goes Viral

A juvenile Indian gaur fell into a large waterbody in Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu. Trichy’s forest and fire teams worked tirelessly for hours to rescue the animal. IAS officer Supriya Sahu, (1991 Batch, Tamil Nadu Cadre) shared the video online, highlighting the daring operation and the officers’ bravery.

A Heroic Effort Captured in a Tweet

In her post, Supriya Sahu praised the team:

“Trichy DFO and her team have safely rescued a juvenile Indian gaur that fell into a large waterbody. Forest and Fire teams worked hard for hours, risking their own lives to save the gaur, who was later released in the wild. Well done Team Trichy 🤛”

The tweet captures the courage and determination of the officers, reminding everyone that protecting wildlife often comes with real risks.

The Rescue Unfolds

The video shows officials creating a makeshift ladder with a lifting mechanism. Using ropes, they reached the gaur and carefully secured it. At times, the ropes seemed strained, and the rescue appeared fragile. Yet, the team’s persistence and planning paid off.

After a tense few hours, the juvenile gaur was safely lifted and guided back to the forest, free and unharmed.
