The Union government has notified the appointment of two Judicial Officers as Additional Judges of the Andhra Pradesh High Court for a period of two years, effective from the date they assume charge of their respective offices.
The appointees are:
- Mr. Avadhanam Hari Haranadha Sarma
- Dr. Yadavalli Lakshmana Rao
The Supreme Court Collegium had approved the proposal for their elevation on January 11, 2025, and subsequently forwarded the recommendations to the President for final approval.
Article 224 of the Indian Constitution provides for the appointment of Additional Judges to High Courts to manage the temporary increase in workload or address pending cases. These judges are appointed for a term not exceeding two years or until the workload normalizes.
