The Geological Survey of India (GSI) showcased fresh findings and released key publications detailing mineral mapping and resource potential. These insights aim to inform investment decisions and guide future exploration.
MoUs and NMET Drive Strategic Exploration
Several Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) were signed to accelerate mining under the National Mineral Exploration Trust (NMET). These agreements will foster structured, data-driven exploration and expand public–private collaboration in the North-East.
Mineral Auction Push Gains Momentum
India has launched 515 mineral blocks for auction, with 161 blocks awarded since 2024–25, including five in Assam and four critical mineral blocks in Arunachal Pradesh—paving the way for industrial expansion and regional employment.
Coal and Clean Energy Momentum Unveiled
The Ministry of Coal released two reports: one on coal resource development and exploration in the North-East, and another focused on commercial coal mining. Notably, mining five coal blocks in the region will yield 1.234 million tonnes per annum.
Meanwhile, NLC India Ltd. announced plans to deploy 1,000 MW of solar power in Assam, aligning mineral extraction with non‑fossil energy targets and regional sustainability.
