Bahraich/Lucknow: Yogi Adityanath on Thursday announced a major rehabilitation package for displaced families in Bahraich, including direct financial assistance, land allotment, housing support and the construction of a new residential colony named Bharatpur at Semrahna village.
Addressing a public programme in Semrahna, the Chief Minister said the state government views every citizen as part of one family and is committed to providing security, dignity and essential amenities without discrimination.
₹15 Lakh Assistance to 118 Beneficiaries Under Rehabilitation Plan
Under the rehabilitation scheme, the Chief Minister distributed ₹15 lakh each to 118 beneficiaries from Bharathapur village.
Officials said the financial support forms part of a broader compensation and rehabilitation exercise for families being relocated from vulnerable areas.
In addition, the government transferred over ₹21.55 crore to cover compensation for agricultural land and other affected assets.
Land Leases, Houses and Toilets Allotted to 136 Families
Alongside financial support, 136 families received:
- land leases
- housing allotments
- toilet facilities
The government said the package is intended to ensure permanent rehabilitation with basic civic infrastructure and legal residential security.
New Bharatpur Colony to Be Built in Semrahna
The Chief Minister announced that a new colony named Bharatpur will be constructed in Semrahna for rehabilitated families.
Each family will receive 748 square feet of land along with a residential unit.
The colony will include:
- internal roads
- electricity supply
- water pipelines
- parks
- LED street lighting
- sanitation facilities
Officials said the colony is being planned as a fully serviced rehabilitation settlement.
Additional Infrastructure Sanctioned for Colony Development
The state government has sanctioned crores of rupees for supporting infrastructure in the rehabilitation area, including:
- CC roads
- relocation of electricity poles
- water supply pipelines
- Anganwadi centres
- school classrooms
- public parks
The Chief Minister directed that all projects be completed within the prescribed timeline.
CM Criticises Previous Governments Over Social Division
During his address, Yogi Adityanath said previous governments had harmed society by dividing people along caste lines and neglecting poor communities.
He stated that the present rehabilitation beneficiaries include families from Dalit, backward, Yadav, Maurya, Kushwaha and Tharu communities, and emphasised that the government’s objective is equal treatment for all sections.
Relief Linked to 2025 Boat Tragedy and Hazard-Prone Area
The Chief Minister referred to a 2025 boat tragedy in Bharathapur village in which nine people lost their lives.
He said the village’s location between forest and river zones had exposed residents to repeated risks from flooding, crocodiles, elephants and other wild animals.
The rehabilitation plan, according to officials, was accelerated after repeated safety concerns in the region.
Forest Villages Being Converted into Revenue Villages
Yogi Adityanath said several forest villages across Uttar Pradesh are being converted into revenue villages so that residents can receive full government benefits and public services.
He noted that this process is underway in Bahraich and other districts to extend administrative recognition and welfare access.
Welfare Schemes Being Delivered Through ‘Service and Compassion’
The Chief Minister said that governance driven by service and compassion ensures easy access for poor families to schemes such as:
- housing benefits
- toilets
- Ayushman cards
- welfare entitlements
He added that the government has used public funds for large-scale delivery across employment, roads, electricity and disaster response.
Bahraich–Lucknow Four-Lane Road Announced
The Chief Minister also announced that the road connecting Lucknow and Bahraich is being upgraded into a four-lane corridor.
According to him, the project will significantly reduce travel time and improve regional connectivity.
He claimed the journey between Bahraich and Lucknow would eventually take between 45 minutes and one hour.
CM Highlights Peaceful Festival Atmosphere in Uttar Pradesh
Referring to law and order, Yogi said that before 2017 the state had witnessed unrest and mafia dominance, whereas festivals are now celebrated peacefully.
He noted large crowds gathering during Navratri and Ram Navami across major temples including:
- Vindhyavasini Temple
- Kalikoh Temple
- Ashtabhuja Temple
- Pateshwari Devi Temple
- Lalita Devi Temple
- Shakumbhari Devi Temple
He also said large numbers of devotees are travelling to Ayodhya during Ram Navami.
Public Representatives Attend Programme
Several ministers, MLAs, MPs and public representatives attended the programme and expressed support for the rehabilitation initiative.
The government described the package as one of the largest targeted rehabilitation interventions in the region in recent years.
