Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will present the final budget of his current term on 11 February 2026. The budget, worth nearly ₹9 lakh crore, is expected to prioritize development, youth employment, and social welfare programs, with a special focus on women and marginalized communities.
With Assembly elections approaching next year, the government is likely to announce schemes designed to attract public support while maintaining its core development agenda.
Focus on Women, Youth, and Farmers
The upcoming budget is expected to include measures to enhance the welfare of women, increase honorariums for workers like Anganwadi and ASHA staff, and provide incentives to farmers. Social pensions for widows and elderly women may also see a hike.
Economic experts predict a boost to local industries and investments in renewable energy, including solar power and e-vehicles, to improve the state’s employment rate and environmental sustainability.
Infrastructure and Economic Growth Priorities
According to the Economic Survey 2025-26, Uttar Pradesh’s Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) has crossed ₹30 lakh crore and is projected to exceed ₹36 lakh crore in the current fiscal year. Investment in infrastructure and industrial development has opened new avenues for economic growth.
The government is likely to continue focusing on expanding expressways, airports, and other foundational infrastructure to accelerate economic development and attract investment.
Previous Budget Highlights
The 2025-26 budget was the largest so far, at ₹8.08 lakh crore, with allocations of:
- 22% to infrastructure
- 13% to education
- 11% to agriculture
- 6.1% (over ₹46,728 crore) to healthcare
The government also aimed to create 34 crore employment days under schemes like MGNREGA and developed the Mathura-Vrindavan corridor, along with four new expressways and airports.
Opposition Criticism
The Congress has criticized the government, claiming that many hospitals lack essential facilities and schools remain non-functional despite budget allocations. They allege that airport projects have stalled and farmers’ incomes have not improved as promised.
The Samajwadi Party (SP) also accused the government of failing to deliver on previous budget promises, including clean drinking water under the Jal Jeevan Mission and maintaining expressway quality.
BJP Perspective
BJP spokesperson Pallavi Singh emphasized that both the Central Government and the Yogi administration have ensured UP’s rapid development, reducing crime and attracting investment. She stated that the upcoming budget will continue focusing on women, youth, and poor communities, reflecting the government’s development roadmap.
