Saharanpur: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday visited Saharanpur where he inaugurated 15 Smart City development projects worth ₹381 crore, launched a slew of public welfare announcements, and delivered a politically charged address targeting opposition parties.
Development First
CM Yogi began his day with a review meeting of local public representatives and administrative officials. Despite weather constraints forcing a road journey instead of a helicopter landing, he reached Circuit House and later inaugurated projects aimed at enhancing urban infrastructure under the Smart City Mission.
The Chief Minister also visited Goga Ji Maharaj Mahadi, where he performed a puja and unveiled a newly constructed Amrit Sarovar, signaling his government’s emphasis on blending spiritual heritage with civic development.
Free Bus Travel for Women on Raksha Bandhan
In a welfare-focused announcement during a Janmanch public address, CM Yogi declared free travel for women on UPSRTC buses from August 8 to 10 in celebration of Raksha Bandhan.
“This is a gift to our sisters so they can travel safely and meet their families during the festival,” he said.
‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ Push Ahead of Independence Day
CM Yogi also urged citizens to actively participate in the upcoming ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign, encouraging the hoisting of the national flag on August 13–15 at homes, businesses, and institutions.
He emphasized mass participation in Tiranga rallies, especially by students, traders, and volunteers, framing it as a matter of national pride:
“The tricolour represents our sovereignty, and honouring it is every Indian’s duty.”
Call for Swadeshi Products
Promoting local economy, the Chief Minister called on citizens—especially youth and entrepreneurs—to prioritize and promote indigenous goods.
“Buying local supports our economy and preserves India’s heritage,” he said.
Political Salvos: Opposition Under Fire
In one of his sharpest attacks yet, CM Yogi accused the Congress and Samajwadi Party of:
- Undermining India’s spiritual legacy
- Protecting terrorism and targeting Hindu leaders in cases like the Malegaon blast
- Attempting to erase religious symbols like Ram Setu and dismissing the existence of Ram and Krishna
He described the previous Congress-led government’s affidavit in court denying mythological figures as a betrayal of Indian identity.
“These people never cared for India’s heritage. They can never build the Kashi Corridor, Ram Mandir, or organize Mahakumbh,” he declared.
CM Yogi claimed that opposition discomfort stems from India’s rising global stature under Prime Minister Modi, and a resurgence of “Bharatiyata” (Indianness).
Leaders Present
The event saw participation from several BJP leaders and local dignitaries, including:
- Ministers Brijesh Rawat, Jaswant Saini
- Former MP Raghav Lakhanpal
- MLAs Rajiv Gumber, Kirat Singh, Mukesh Chaudhary, Devendra Nim
- Senior BJP functionaries and public representatives
Takeaway
CM Yogi’s Saharanpur visit showcased his government’s dual strategy of infrastructure-driven governance and nationalist political outreach. By combining project inaugurations, festival-linked welfare measures, and pointed opposition critique, the Chief Minister reinforced his narrative of a New India — modern, proud, and deeply rooted in cultural tradition.
