On the second day of the new year, the Yogi Adityanath led Uttar Pradesh government announced the majour transfer of 46 IAS officers, including several high-ranking officials across key departments. The reshuffle marks a strategic move to enhance governance and streamline administrative functions in the state.
A key highlight of the reshuffle is the return of 1995 batch IAS officer Sanjay Prasad to the position of Principal Secretary (PS) Home, taking over the charge of several crucial departments, including Home, Confidentiality, Visa, Passport, and Vigilance.
The government has also issued postings for the 2009 batch IAS officers who were promoted from the positions of Special Secretary and District Magistrate to the role of Secretary.
Here is a detailed breakdown of the key transfers:
- Deepak Kumar (1990 batch) – Relieved from the charge of Additional Chief Secretary, Home, Visa, Passport, Vigilance Department and given additional charge as Principal Secretary, Basic Education Department.
- L Venkateswarlu (1991 batch) – Assigned additional responsibility as Principal Secretary, Social Welfare, Sainik Welfare, Tribal Development, UP CIDCO, Director of Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe Research and Training Institute, and Chhatrapati Shahuji Maharaj Research and Training Institute, along with his current role.
- Rajesh Kumar Singh I (1991 batch) – Appointed as Principal Secretary, Home Guard. He had been on the waiting list for about three months.
- BL Meena (1991 batch) – Relieved of the charge of Principal Secretary, Home Guard, and will continue as Principal Secretary, Horticulture, Silk, Food Processing, and Home Guard Department.
- Alok Kumar II (1993 batch) – Relieved from the charge of Principal Secretary, Handloom and Textile Industry, Khadi and Village Industries, and given additional charge of Principal Secretary, Infrastructure and Industrial Development Department.
- Narendra Bhooshan (1992 batch) – Appointed as Principal Secretary, Panchayati Raj Department, while continuing his responsibilities in the Intellectual Education Department.
- Veena Kumari Meena (1993 batch) – Relieved from the charge of Principal Secretary, AYUSH Department.
- Anil Garg (1996 batch), Principal Secretary of the Irrigation Department, has been removed from the post of State Nodal Officer for the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana. However, the posts of Irrigation and Water Resources, Land Development, Prison Administration and Reforms Services, Uttar Pradesh Government Chairman, Pack State Nodal Officer for the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana, and Managing Director of the Uttar Pradesh Land Reforms Corporation have been retained by him.
- Anil Kumar Sagar (1998 batch), Principal Secretary of the Industrial Development Department, who was recently removed on the orders of the High Court, has been appointed as the Principal Secretary of the Handloom and Textiles, Khadi, and Village Industries Department.
2009 batch IAS Officers Posting
- Anuj Kumar Jha (2009 batch) has been given the responsibility of Secretary, in addition to serving as the Director of the Local Bodies Department.
- Bhupendra S. Chaudhary (2009 batch) – Appointed Secretary, Public Works Department (PWD).
- Mala Srivastava (2009 batch) has been entrusted with the responsibility of Secretary, along with serving as the Director of the Geology and Mining Department.
- Vaibhav Srivastava (2009 batch) – Appointed Secretary, Home. He has been appointed as the Secretary of the Home Department, transitioning from his role as Special Secretary in the same department.
- Ajit Kumar (2009 batch) has been appointed as the Secretary in the Agriculture Department, after serving as Special Secretary in the Agriculture Production Commissioner Branch.
- Atal Kumar Rai (2009 batch), Director of the Panchayati Raj Department, has also been assigned the responsibility of Secretary in the same department.

Other Key Changes:
Several other officers have been assigned new roles within different departments across the state. These changes include promotions and shifting of responsibilities to ensure the departments function effectively and achieve the government’s strategic goals in sectors such as education, welfare, industrial development, and security.
