Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh government has promoted three senior IAS officers of the 1994 batch to the prestigious rank of Additional Chief Secretary, marking a significant development in the state’s top bureaucratic reshuffle.
Those elevated from Principal Secretary to Additional Chief Secretary include –
- Amit Kumar Ghosh – Principal Secretary, Medical Health & Family Welfare and Medical Education
- Leena Johri – Principal Secretary, Women & Child Development and Director General, Rashtriya Poshan Mission
- Partha Sarthi Sen Sharma – Principal Secretary, Basic and Secondary Education
All three officers will continue to serve in their current departments, now in their elevated roles as Additional Chief Secretaries.

These promotions come at a crucial time, with each officer heading strategically important departments that directly impact the state’s health, education, and welfare sectors.
Amit Kumar Ghosh has played a central role in shaping UP’s public health and medical education landscape, especially during and after the pandemic.
Leena Johri, in charge of Women & Child Development, is also spearheading efforts under the Rashtriya Poshan Mission, a critical central initiative for combating malnutrition.
Parth Sarthi Sen Sharma, a seasoned administrator and author, leads reforms in school education, with a focus on improving learning outcomes and digital infrastructure in both basic and secondary education.
