Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh government on Wednesday issued orders for the transfer of two Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers, assigning them new responsibilities in different districts of the state. The reshuffle comes as part of routine administrative adjustments aimed at improving governance and ensuring effective administration across key regions.
Rajesh Kumar Appointed as Chief Development Officer in Chitrakoot
The government has transferred Rajesh Kumar, who was serving as Additional District Magistrate (ADM) in Gautam Buddh Nagar, to Chitrakoot as the Chief Development Officer (CDO). In his new role, Kumar will oversee the planning and execution of various developmental schemes, including rural development programs, infrastructure projects, and welfare initiatives in the district.
Officials noted that Kumar’s administrative experience in Gautam Buddh Nagar, a fast-developing district with significant urban and rural management challenges, equips him well to handle the developmental responsibilities in Chitrakoot.
Anushka Sharma Assigned as Joint Magistrate in Pratapgarh
Meanwhile, IAS officer Anushka Sharma, who had been awaiting posting, has been assigned the position of Joint Magistrate in Pratapgarh. Sharma’s responsibilities will include maintaining law and order, supervising district administration functions, and assisting in implementing state government policies at the district level.
Sharma’s appointment is expected to strengthen administrative oversight in Pratapgarh, ensuring efficient governance and timely execution of development programs in the district.
Administrative Context
Such transfers are part of the state government’s regular administrative exercise to rotate IAS officers, providing them with diverse experiences and enabling them to contribute effectively in different regions. Transfers are also aimed at addressing administrative requirements, balancing the workload across districts, and introducing fresh perspectives in local governance.
The government’s orders were issued late in the evening, signaling the urgency of filling key positions to ensure smooth functioning of district administrations.
Officers’ Background and Experience
Rajesh Kumar has served in various capacities across the state, managing urban development projects, law and order, and administrative reforms. His experience in Gautam Buddh Nagar, a district with both high urbanization and large rural areas, is expected to be beneficial for Chitrakoot, which has its own unique developmental challenges.
Anushka Sharma, a relatively new IAS officer, brings fresh energy and administrative insight to her role as Joint Magistrate in Pratapgarh. Her posting is seen as a strategic move by the state government to strengthen governance in districts requiring administrative reinforcement.
