The Uttar Pradesh Government on Tuesday presented its second supplementary budget for the financial year 2024-25, amounting to ₹17,865.72 crore. Finance and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Suresh Kumar Khanna tabled the budget during the winter session of the state assembly.
Budget Highlights
Minister Khanna outlined that the supplementary budget accounts for 2.42% of the original budget of ₹7,36,437.71 crore. Combined with the first supplementary budget of ₹12,209.93 crore presented earlier this year, the state’s total budget size for 2024-25 now stands at ₹7,66,513.36 crore.
Key Allocations
The second supplementary budget focuses on critical sectors, with significant allocations as follows:
- Energy Department: ₹8,587.27 crore
- Finance: ₹2,438.63 crore
- Family Welfare: ₹1,592.28 crore
- Animal Husbandry: ₹1,001 crore
- Public Works Department: ₹805 crore
- Primary Education: ₹515 crore
- Information Department: ₹505 crore
- Panchayati Raj: ₹454.01 crore
- Medical Education and Training: ₹354.54 crore
Development Priorities
The supplementary budget includes new proposals worth ₹790.49 crore and an estimated central share of ₹422.56 crore under various central schemes. Additionally, a contingency fund of ₹30.48 crore has been incorporated to address unforeseen requirements.
Minister Khanna emphasized that the budget reflects the state government’s commitment to development and its adherence to constitutional provisions. The allocations aim to strengthen key sectors, enhance public welfare, and support infrastructure growth across the state.
