Students from Classes IX to XII in government secondary schools across Uttar Pradesh will soon receive training in Artificial Intelligence (AI) as part of the vocational education programme under Project Praveen.
The initiative, launched by the Uttar Pradesh Skill Development Mission (UPSDM), is expected to benefit more than two lakh students studying in nearly 1,200 schools across the state.
‘AI For All’ Course to Build Digital Skills
As part of the programme, a four-hour course called “AI For All” will be introduced for both trainers and students. The course is aimed at helping students improve their digital literacy, creative thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
Officials believe that basic AI education at the school level will help students become more prepared for future job markets and competitive environments.
Focus on Practical Use of AI
According to UPSDM Director Pulkit Khare, the programme is designed to give students practical exposure to AI and help them understand how it can be used in different professions.
He said that AI knowledge can make work more efficient in fields such as tailoring, healthcare, and information technology. Students will also learn important skills like data analysis and innovative thinking.
Specialised AI Modules for Different Trades
Keeping in mind students’ career interests, UPSDM has prepared separate AI-based modules for several popular vocational roles. These include:
- IT customer care executive
- Self-employed tailor
- Healthcare worker
- Digital Mitra
- Soap maker
These subject-specific modules are intended to show students how AI can be applied directly in their chosen trades.
Trainers to Complete AI Course Before New Session
Before the start of the 2026-27 academic session, all trainers associated with Project Praveen have been directed to complete the “AI For All” programme.
In addition, trainers working with the five major job roles will undergo advanced training focused on AI applications in their specific sectors.
