Lucknow: Just a day after the Uttar Pradesh state budget was passed, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath released ₹460 crore to farmers under the PM Crop Insurance Scheme (Kharif-2025) and the CM Farmer Accident Welfare Scheme. The funds were transferred directly to beneficiaries’ bank accounts from his official residence at 5-Kalidas Marg, Lucknow, ensuring full transparency and eliminating intermediaries.
₹285 Crore Compensation to 2.51 Lakh Farmers
Under the PM Crop Insurance Scheme, 2.51 lakh farmers affected by drought, excessive rainfall, or other crop losses received ₹285 crore. Officials confirmed that claims were verified using digital surveys and technical assessments, ensuring fast and accurate payments. This compensation will help farmers prepare for the next sowing season.

₹175 Crore Accident Assistance to 3,500 Families
The CM Farmer Accident Welfare Scheme provided ₹175 crore to 3,500 families who suffered permanent disability or the loss of a family member due to accidents. Funds were transferred via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), guaranteeing timely and transparent assistance.
Disaster Management Volunteers Receive Three-Year ₹5 Lakh Insurance
As part of disaster preparedness, trained youth volunteers under the Disaster Mitra program will receive ₹5 lakh life and medical insurance for three years. These volunteers, drawn from NCC, NSS, NYKS, and Bharat Scouts & Guides, have been trained as first responders and equipped with emergency kits including life jackets, first-aid boxes, and safety gear.
Emergency Funds Reach Victims Within 24 Hours
CM Yogi Adityanath emphasized that previous delays in disaster compensation have been eliminated. Under the State Disaster Relief Fund 2025-26, ₹876 crore has already been distributed to affected farmers, households, and individuals in flood, lightning, and fire-related incidents. The goal is to transfer relief funds within 24 hours of a disaster.

Doppler Weather Radars & Automatic Weather Stations
To improve disaster forecasting, Doppler weather radars will be installed in Lucknow, Varanasi, Gorakhpur, Jhansi, and Azamgarh. The state has already set up 450 automatic weather stations and 2,000 block-level automatic rain gauges to monitor rainfall and lightning threats.
Recognition and Opportunities for Disaster Mitra Volunteers
The CM announced that Disaster Mitra volunteers will be given priority in the recruitment of 45,000 Home Guards. Currently, over 19,000 volunteers have been trained, and a two-year disaster management internship program is running for graduate and postgraduate students. Volunteers will receive government honoraria when serving as Home Guards.

Farmers and disaster-affected families virtually thanked the government. Many expressed that timely insurance compensation and accident assistance provide financial security and help in preparing for the next crop cycle, while emergency support from Disaster Mitra volunteers strengthens local disaster response.
