Lucknow: In a major push for education and social welfare, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday transferred ₹3,350 crore as scholarships and fee reimbursements directly into the bank accounts of nearly 27.99 lakh students under various welfare schemes.
The funds were disbursed through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) at a program held at Indira Gandhi Pratishthan in Lucknow, ensuring transparency and timely financial support to beneficiaries.
Financial Aid to Students Across All Categories
The scholarship scheme covered students from Class 9–10 and post-matric levels, benefiting learners across all categories, including:
- General category
- Other Backward Classes (OBC)
- Scheduled Castes (SC)
- Scheduled Tribes (ST)
- Minority communities
The initiative aims to ensure that no student is forced to drop out due to financial constraints.

₹100 Crore Support for Families Under Welfare Scheme
Alongside scholarships, the CM also transferred ₹100 crore to 33,334 beneficiaries under the National Family Benefit Scheme, providing financial assistance to families in need.
Focus on Transparency and Direct Transfers
CM Yogi emphasized that DBT has improved transparency and efficiency, ensuring funds reach beneficiaries directly without middlemen.
He urged students to use the scholarship wisely, stating:
“Scholarship is not your destination—hard work is. Use this support as a platform to achieve your goals.”
Special Focus on Women and Youth Empowerment
The Chief Minister highlighted several initiatives aimed at women and youth empowerment, including:
- Construction of working women hostels in cities like Meerut, Prayagraj, Jhansi, Agra, and Gorakhpur
- Support for women entrepreneurship programs
- Development of skill and employment zones in every district
He also noted that the government has already benefited over 26 lakh girls through various welfare schemes supporting education from birth to graduation.

Category-wise Scholarship Distribution
According to Minister of State Narendra Kashyap, funds were distributed across categories as follows:
- SC students: ₹467.94 crore for 6.68 lakh beneficiaries
- OBC students: ₹1,838.59 crore for 13.52 lakh beneficiaries
- General category: ₹779.10 crore for 4.95 lakh beneficiaries
- Minority students: ₹252.76 crore for 2.75 lakh beneficiaries
- ST students: ₹11.61 crore for 7,236 beneficiaries
Government Reaffirms ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas’
CM Yogi reiterated that the government’s goal is inclusive development without discrimination, ensuring that welfare schemes benefit all sections of society equally.
State Minister Om Prakash Rajbhar also highlighted that scholarship amounts have been significantly increased over the years, contributing to rapid development and better educational opportunities in Uttar Pradesh.
