Lucknow: In a major boost to employment opportunities for the youth of Uttar Pradesh, the Yogi Adityanath-led government is preparing to roll out a record-breaking recruitment drive of 1.5 lakh government jobs in 2026. The move is expected to further cement the state’s position as a leader in transparent and large-scale public sector recruitment.
High-Level Review of Vacant Posts Across Departments
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath recently chaired a high-level meeting to review department-wise vacant posts and directed officials to expedite the recruitment process. During the meeting, the CM emphasized timely filling of vacancies to ensure efficient governance and greater employment generation.
Officials were instructed to submit updated data on vacancies so that recruitment advertisements could be issued without delay.
Police and Education Departments to Get Maximum Appointments
As per official sources, the Police and Education departments will account for the highest number of recruitments, with 50,000 posts each slated to be filled in 2026.
Police Department:
- 30,000 Constables
- 5,000 Sub-Inspectors
- 15,000 personnel in other categories
Education Department:
- Around 50,000 posts including Assistant Teachers, Lecturers, and Principals
The Revenue Department will also witness a major recruitment drive with 20,000 posts, largely for the position of Lekhpal.
Recruitment Across Multiple Key Departments
In addition to Police, Education, and Revenue, appointments will also be made in several other departments, including:
- Housing Development
- Health
- Child Development
- Nutrition
- Prison Administration
This wide-ranging recruitment drive aims to strengthen public service delivery while creating stable employment for the state’s youth.
Yogi Government Nears Landmark of 10 Lakh Government Jobs in a Decade
With the proposed 1.5 lakh recruitments in 2026, the Yogi government is on track to achieve a historic milestone of providing 10 lakh government jobs in 10 years, a first in Uttar Pradesh’s history.
So far, the government has already provided over 8.5 lakh government jobs in the last 8.5 years, all through transparent, merit-based, and technology-driven recruitment processes.
Transparency Restores Youth’s Confidence in Recruitment System
According to officials, the transparent recruitment framework adopted by the Yogi government has restored faith among aspirants, addressing long-standing concerns related to irregularities and lack of fairness in previous regimes.
Recruitment advertisements for many departments are already in the final stages of preparation, and selection processes have begun in some sectors.
A Major Push Towards Employment and Good Governance
Once completed, the 2026 recruitment drive will not only mark the highest number of government jobs offered in a single year in the state but also underline the government’s commitment to youth empowerment, administrative efficiency, and inclusive growth.
