New Delhi: The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has issued an official clarification following media reports claiming that two candidates with the same name — Akanksha Singh — had secured Rank 301 in the Civil Services Examination (CSE) 2025. The Commission stated that, according to its official records, only one candidate named Akanksha Singh secured Rank 301 in the final result declared on March 6, 2026.

In a formal statement, UPSC clarified that the candidate who secured Rank 301 in the Civil Services Examination (Mains) 2025 is:

UPSC Shares Details to End Confusion
The Commission said the clarification was issued after several media reports and social media posts suggested that two candidates with the same name were claiming the same rank.
Officials said that such confusion often arises due to the large public interest surrounding the Civil Services Examination results, which are closely tracked by aspirants across the country.
The statement was released to ensure transparency and prevent misinformation regarding the examination results.
Discrepancy in Admit Card Sparks Confusion
The controversy reportedly emerged due to a discrepancy in the admit card of another candidate named Akanksha Singh from Ara in Bihar.
According to a report by Dainik Bhaskar, both candidates appeared to have similar roll numbers on their admit cards.
• The Akanksha Singh from Ghazipur, Uttar Pradesh had Roll Number 0856794 on her interview call letter.
• Scanning the QR code on her admit card also confirmed the same roll number.
However, the Akanksha Singh from Ara, Bihar, provided her preliminary examination admit card, which also displayed the roll number 0856794. But when the QR code was scanned, it reportedly revealed the roll number 085659, indicating a discrepancy.
Background of Akanksha Singh from Bihar
The Akanksha Singh from Bihar belongs to Khopira village in the Agiaon block of Bhojpur district, though her family currently lives in the Katira area of Ara city.
She completed her early education at Catholic Mission School in Ara.
• Matriculation (2017): 80% marks
• Intermediate (Science, 2019): 81% marks
• Graduation (English, 2022): Secured first position with 64% marks
In an interview with Dainik Bhaskar, she said her life had been simple and that she had worked hard to achieve success despite limited resources.
“My life has been very simple. I have achieved this position through hard work and dedication, living with limited resources,” she said.
Her father, Kumar Indu Bhushan Singh, is a farmer, while her mother, Rinku Devi, is a homemaker.
UPSC Civil Services Examination 2025 Results
The Civil Services Examination 2025 final results were declared on March 6, 2026.
• Anuj Agnihotri from Rawatbhata in Chittorgarh, Rajasthan, secured All India Rank 1.
• 958 candidates have been recommended for appointment to various services.
