Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) Civil Services Exam-2022 results have once again showed how Residential Coaching Academy of Jamia Millia Islamia has once again been a success, as 23 aspirants, 12 girls and 11 boys, coached at RCA have made it through among the 933 candidates selected this year.
Of the 120 students of RCA, who had appeared for the Mains examination, 23 qualified, including Ajmera Sanketh Kumar who notched AIR-35 and Divyanshi Singla who got 95th all India rank.
In-charge of the RCA, Prof. Abid Haleem said that the academy provides free coaching to the students selected through the national entrance test. The entrance for the fresh batch is scheduled to be held on June 17 and aspirants can apply till June 5.
“The biggest strength of RCA is its diversity. Candidates from different religious groups and different regions get coaching here. They learn from each other.”
It is worth mentioning that last year, 22 students of RCA had cracked the exam, including all-India topper Shruti Sharma (UPSC CSE-2021).
The RCA of Jamia Millia Islamia prepares aspirants for UPSC CSE. There are total 100 seats for this coaching. SC / SC (SC / ST) category, women and minority category candidates can apply to study here. After an entrance exam and Interview, they can get admission here.
ADMISSION PROCESS
Every year notification is issued regarding admission in Jamia Millia Islamia’ RCA centre. After that, eligible candidate can apply for admission.
Only Minorities, Schedule Caste, Schedule Tribe, and Women are Eligible for RCA.
Minimum qualification required for this is graduation. After the applications, candidates have to give entrance exam.
The pattern of entrance exam is same as per UPSC CSE. There are multiple choice questions. The total duration of the test is 3 hours. In this, one paper of essay also has to be written.
There is also negative marking in the paper, which is one-third. After qualifying the written, an interview has to be given.
Interview is of 30 marks. After qualifying that, UPSC CSE preparation can be done from here. No coaching fee is charged. Hostel is available and there is a mess facility for food, for which fees have to be paid.
A total of 933 candidates have been selected for the service this year, which is bigger in comparison to last year’s results which saw a total of 685 selected candidates. While in UPSC CSE-2020, a total of 761 candidates including 545 men and 216 women, had been selected.
Of the 933 candidates qualifying in the test, 345 belonged to the general category, 263 were from Other Backward Classes, 154 from the Scheduled Caste, 99 from the Economically Weaker Sections and 72 from the Scheduled Tribes.
Out of the top 10 ranks, six have been bagged by girls. Ishita Kishore has topped the prestigious exam.
While Garima Lohia and Uma Harathi N are second and third, respectively and and Smriti Mishra at number four.
