Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh State Industrial Development Authority (UPSIDA) has approved eight new projects in the warehousing and logistics sector across Uttar Pradesh, with proposed investments of nearly ₹800 crore, giving another push to the state’s infrastructure-led industrial expansion strategy.
Officials said the approvals were granted under the Uttar Pradesh Warehousing and Logistics Policy-2022 and reflect growing investor confidence in logistics, storage and supply-chain infrastructure in the state.
The newly sanctioned projects include silos, warehousing units and a logistics facility spread across multiple districts, aimed at improving foodgrain storage, agricultural supply chains and industrial distribution systems.
Eight Projects Spread Across Key Districts
According to officials, the approved projects include five silos, two warehousing units and one logistics project.
These projects will be developed in:
- Unnao,
- Auraiya,
- Balrampur,
- Shravasti,
- Sultanpur,
- Lucknow,
- Gautam Buddha Nagar
- Hapur
Officials believe the geographical spread of these projects will help strengthen regional connectivity and create a stronger warehousing backbone across central, western and eastern Uttar Pradesh.
Investor Confidence Rising Under Logistics Policy
A government spokesperson said the approvals demonstrate increasing investor trust in the state’s warehousing ecosystem, particularly due to incentives built into the policy framework.
These incentives include financial assistance, tax exemptions and benefits for setting up logistics parks, storage facilities and warehousing units on private land.
The Warehousing and Logistics Policy-2022 has been positioned as a major tool to attract private capital into logistics infrastructure, especially in districts connected to industrial corridors, freight routes and agricultural belts.
61 Projects Approved So Far Under State Policy
Officials said that with the latest approvals, UPSIDA has now cleared 61 projects under the Warehousing and Logistics Policy-2022 and the PIP policy.
Together, these approved projects represent proposed investments of over ₹12,900 crore and cover nearly 810 acres of land across the state.
This indicates the scale at which Uttar Pradesh is building warehousing and logistics infrastructure to support both agriculture and industrial production.
Focus on Foodgrain Storage and Supply Chain Strengthening
The newly approved silos and warehousing units are expected to significantly improve safe storage capacity for foodgrains.
Officials noted that modern storage infrastructure reduces post-harvest losses and helps maintain quality in agricultural produce, which directly benefits farmers and procurement systems.
The expansion is also expected to improve movement efficiency for agricultural commodities, industrial goods and consumer products.
Boost to Multi-Modal Logistics and Employment
Authorities said the projects will also accelerate the development of multi-modal logistics hubs, warehouse clusters and modern distribution centres.
This is important for Uttar Pradesh’s broader industrial development plans, especially as the state seeks stronger integration with freight corridors and manufacturing zones.
In addition to infrastructure benefits, the projects are expected to generate substantial employment during both construction and operational phases.
Officials believe that logistics-led industrial growth will play a key role in supporting future investment across sectors including food processing, manufacturing, retail distribution and exports.
Part of UP’s Larger Industrial Push
The warehousing approvals come as Uttar Pradesh continues to expand sector-specific industrial infrastructure through targeted policy support.
The logistics sector has emerged as a priority area because of the state’s central location, large agricultural output and growing industrial footprint.
By building modern storage and transport-linked infrastructure, the state aims to improve supply-chain reliability and attract larger private investments in downstream sectors.
