Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has said that the state has achieved remarkable progress in MSME, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, exports, and women empowerment since 2017, transforming Uttar Pradesh into a fast-growing and self-reliant economy.
Participating in the discussion on the Motion of Thanks to the Governor’s Address in the Legislative Council, the Chief Minister highlighted that before 2017, the state was facing severe challenges, especially in the MSME sector, which he described as nearly defunct.
MSME Sector Revived Through ODOP Initiative
CM Yogi Adityanath said that the launch of the One District One Product (ODOP) scheme revitalised traditional industries and gave local products global recognition. Through branding, improved design, technology support, and marketing, Uttar Pradesh’s exports have nearly doubled.
- Exports increased from ₹84,000 crore in 2017 to ₹1.86 lakh crore at present
- Nearly 50% contribution from ODOP handicrafts and traditional products
- Over 3.16 lakh employment opportunities created under the scheme
- More than 96 lakh MSME units operational in the state
- Over 3 crore youth employed in the MSME sector
Additionally, more than 77 products from Uttar Pradesh have received GI (Geographical Indication) tags, enhancing their credibility in global markets.
Major Healthcare Transformation in Uttar Pradesh
The Chief Minister stated that significant improvements have been made in healthcare infrastructure across the state.
Before 2017, over 40 districts reportedly lacked ICU facilities. Today, every district is equipped with:
- ICU units
- Digital X-ray facilities
- Blood banks
- Dialysis services
- Oxygen plants
- Ventilators
The state is moving towards the vision of One District, One Medical College, while AIIMS institutions are operational in Rae Bareli and Gorakhpur.
Ambulance response times under the 108 and 102 services have improved, and telemedicine is expanding healthcare access to remote villages. The government is also promoting artificial intelligence, genomics, medical technology, and digital health ecosystems.
CM Yogi highlighted that encephalitis, which claimed 1,200–1,500 children’s lives annually before 2017, has been nearly eliminated, with zero reported deaths in 2024.
Rapid Growth in Pharma and Medical Infrastructure
The pharmaceutical sector in Uttar Pradesh is witnessing accelerated investment and development.
- A Pharma Park in Lalitpur is under rapid construction, including bulk drug units
- A 350-acre Medical Device Park in Greater Noida is being developed
- A recent Pharma Conclave in Lucknow attracted leading national investors
The Chief Minister said that improved law and order and investor-friendly policies have restored confidence among industrialists who had earlier left the state due to security concerns.
Focus on Women Empowerment and Social Inclusion
CM Yogi Adityanath emphasised that development in Uttar Pradesh has not been limited to industries and urban areas. Marginalised communities such as Vantangiya, Musahar, Tharu, Kol, and Buksa tribes are being provided land rights, housing, and basic facilities.
Women empowerment has also seen strong momentum, with initiatives focused on:
- Women’s safety
- Education and skill development
- Self-employment
- Healthcare access
- Leadership participation
He said the state is progressing from “security to prosperity and from empowerment to excellence” for women.
Uttar Pradesh Moving Towards Self-Reliance
Concluding his address, the Chief Minister asserted that since 2017, Uttar Pradesh has written new chapters in security, development, investment, and self-reliance.
With growth in MSMEs, rising exports, expanding healthcare infrastructure, increasing pharma investments, and a strong focus on women empowerment, the state is positioning itself as a major contributor to India’s economic progress.
