Lucknow: The Social Welfare Department of Uttar Pradesh has taken a major step toward simplifying and automating the Old Age Pension Scheme. Under the new system, senior citizens aged 60 years and above will no longer need to submit any application to receive pension benefits. Eligibility will be determined automatically through the Family ID, and the pension amount will be transferred directly to the beneficiary’s bank account.
Swift Implementation of the New Pension Framework
The Social Welfare Department has announced that the revamped Old Age Pension Scheme will be implemented at the earliest. As part of the process, all districts have been instructed to prepare and submit a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) within the next 20 days. The improved payment mechanism is expected to significantly reduce verification time and enhance transparency. Divisional Commissioners and District Magistrates have been assigned the responsibility of Family ID–based verification.
