Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mr. Yogi Adityanath has directed officials to implement the Uttar Pradesh Electronics Component Manufacturing Policy-2025, a major step aimed at positioning the state as a global hub for electronics manufacturing. The policy seeks to attract large-scale investments, boost domestic production, and create massive employment opportunities while strengthening India’s vision of ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ and ‘Make in India’.
Electronics: The Fastest Growing Sector of India’s Economy
During a review meeting, Mr. Adityanath highlighted that the electronics industry is one of the fastest-growing sectors of the Indian economy. He noted that India is currently the world’s second-largest mobile manufacturer, with Uttar Pradesh contributing nearly 60 percent of the total production.
“Uttar Pradesh must capitalise on its immense potential in this sector. Over the past eight years, the state has made historic progress in industrial development. Now, it is time to establish Uttar Pradesh’s distinct identity on the global electronics map,” Mr. Adityanath said.
India’s Electronics Boom: From Rs. 1.9 Lakh Crore to Rs. 11.3 Lakh Crore
Officials stated that India’s electronics production grew from Rs. 1.9 lakh crore in 2014-15 to Rs. 11.3 lakh crore in 2024-25. Mobile phone production alone increased from Rs. 18,000 crore to Rs. 5.45 lakh crore, while exports rose sharply from Rs. 1,500 crore to Rs. 2 lakh crore.
In 2023-24, Uttar Pradesh contributed significantly with electronics hardware exports worth approximately Rs. 37,000 crore, reinforcing its position as the country’s manufacturing powerhouse.
Policy Targets: USD 50 Billion Output and 10 Lakh Jobs
The proposed Electronics Component Manufacturing Policy-2025 sets ambitious targets of achieving USD 50 billion in electronics production within five years, along with generating nearly 10 lakh direct and indirect jobs. This initiative will also contribute substantially to Uttar Pradesh’s goal of becoming a USD 1-trillion economy.
Incentives to Boost Investments and Employment
The policy framework is expected to include subsidies on capital investment, exemptions in stamp duty and electricity charges, interest grants, logistics support, and operational benefits. The Chief Minister directed that special incentives must be provided to companies generating employment within the state, with a particular focus on creating opportunities for the youth.
A Roadmap for Global Recognition
Mr. Adityanath stressed the need for a concrete action plan to make Uttar Pradesh a recognized global hub for electronics component manufacturing. The policy is expected to attract foreign investment, reduce dependence on imports, increase domestic value addition, and save foreign exchange while enhancing the state’s industrial ecosystem.
