In a significant move ahead of the upcoming by-elections, the Uttar Pradesh government has carried out a major administrative reshuffle, transferring 11 senior IAS officers, including divisional commissioners of key regions. The reshuffle, which was officially announced on Tuesday, sees a number of high-ranking officials reassigned to new roles.
Among the key changes, a promotee IAS officer of 2008 batch Bal Krishna Tripathi has been appointed the new Divisional Commissioner of Vindhyachal, while K Vijayendra Pandian, also an IAS officer of 2008 batch, has taken on the additional responsibility of the Kanpur Division Commissioner.
2009 batch IAS officer Vivek has been appointed as the new Divisional Commissioner of Azamgarh.
Meanwhile, 2000 batch IAS officer Maneesh Chauhan, the current Azamgarh Commissioner, has been appointed as the new Principal Secretary of the Sports and Youth Welfare Department, succeeding Alok Kumar (II), who has been relieved of his duties.
In further changes, 1994 batch IAS officer Leena Johri has been removed from her position as the Principal Secretary of the Stamp and Registration Department and Inspector General, Registration, UP.
2000 batch IAS officer Amit Gupta, the Commissioner of Kanpur Division, has now been entrusted with this important role of Principal Secretary of the Stamp and Registration Department.
2007 batch IAS officer Dr. Muthukumarasamy B., the current Vindhyachal Division Commissioner, has been reassigned as the Secretary of the Finance Department.
2010-batch IAS officer Dr. Rupesh Kumar has been relieved of his duties as Inspector General of Registration. However, he will continue to serve as the Managing Director (MD) of Uttar Pradesh State Electricity Generation Corporation and MD of Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited.
Ajit Kumar has been moved to the position of Divisional Commissioner of Chitrakoot Dham, and Narendra Prasad Pandey has been given the responsibility of Secretary, Planning Department, in addition to his role as Director General of Finance and Statistics.
The reshuffle is seen as a strategic move to streamline the administrative machinery ahead of the by-elections, as Uttar Pradesh gears up for another round of electoral activity.
