Chief Minister Mr. Yogi Adityanath extended heartfelt greetings to the people of Uttar Pradesh on the auspicious occasions of Mahanavami during Sharadiya Navratri and Vijayadashami. Speaking after performing the traditional Kanya Pujan at the Gorakhnath Temple in Gorakhpur, Mr. Adityanath said the festival is a reminder of the central role of women in creation and society.

He said, “Life cannot be imagined without the power of women. Our government is committed to strengthening their safety, respect, and self-reliance through dedicated programs.”
Empowering Women Through Policy and Tradition
The Chief Minister highlighted the cultural and spiritual significance of Navratri, stating that the worship of Goddess Durga’s nine forms is symbolic of the strength and dignity of women. He expressed pride in upholding the Sanatan tradition through rituals like Kanya Pujan, and connected these values directly with the government’s current policies on women’s empowerment.
Mission Shakti’s Fifth Phase Launched Across Uttar Pradesh
To coincide with Sharadiya Navratri, the fifth phase of Mission Shakti was launched on September 22, focusing on the safety and empowerment of women right down to the Panchayat level. Mr. Adityanath affirmed that all 75 districts are witnessing focused programs to raise awareness, enhance security, and support women’s self-reliance.
“Uttar Pradesh, despite being the most populous state, has a significantly low crime rate against women and ranks number one nationally in securing convictions in such cases,” he stated, crediting the success to targeted policy action.
Social Security and Financial Support for Women
Reinforcing his commitment to welfare, Mr. Yogi Adityanath shared that 1 crore women in Uttar Pradesh are receiving annual pensions of Rs. 12,000. Furthermore, over 2.6 million girls have been enrolled under the Kanya Sumangala Yojana, which offers financial support of Rs. 25,000 from birth to graduation.
He also announced an increase in the grant for mass marriage schemes to Rs. 100,000 per couple — a substantial relief for economically weaker families marrying off their daughters.
National Schemes and Legislative Reforms for Women
Mr. Adityanath underlined that national-level schemes like Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, Matru Vandana, and Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam are part of a larger vision for gender justice, under the leadership of Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi. These initiatives aim to provide equal representation to women and promote dignity and opportunity for every daughter in the country.
Vijayadashami: A Festival of Righteous Triumph
Concluding his address, Mr. Yogi Adityanath congratulated citizens on Vijayadashami, describing it as a festival that symbolizes the eternal triumph of justice, morality, and righteousness over evil. “The effigies of Ravana symbolize the defeat of injustice and tyranny,” he said, highlighting the cultural depth of India’s traditions.
