Lucknow: In a major move to address the rising number of road accidents, the Yogi Government in Uttar Pradesh has announced the launch of ‘Zero Fatality Month’ across the state from 1st to 31st January 2026. The initiative, led jointly by the Transport and Police Departments, aims to ensure that not a single life is lost in road accidents during the month.
High-Risk Corridors Identified
As part of the initiative, authorities have identified 363 high-risk corridors across the state, which will be the primary focus areas for road safety enforcement. Campaigns such as ‘No Helmet, No Fuel’ will be conducted rigorously to ensure compliance with traffic rules. Other departments will also participate in raising awareness and supporting safety measures. Officials believe that the results of these measures will become visible by the end of January 2026, potentially serving as a model for accident reduction nationwide.
