Dehradun: In a landmark move honouring India’s brave hearts, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has fulfilled his promise to Agniveers by notifying a 10% horizontal reservation in Group-C uniformed government jobs for demobilized Agniveers. The Personnel and Vigilance Department issued the official notification for the “Horizontal Reservation Rules–2025” on Monday.
Direct Benefit for Agniveers in Uniformed Services
This reservation will apply to a wide range of uniformed posts, including–
- Police Constable (Civil and PAC)
- Sub-Inspector
- Platoon Commander PAC
- Fireman and Fire Officer Grade-II
- Jail Guard and Deputy Jailor
- Forest Guard and Forester
- Excise and Enforcement Constables
- Secretariat Security Guard
- Tiger Protection Force
This horizontal reservation ensures that demobilized Agniveers – those who have completed their service under the Agnipath scheme – will have a guaranteed pathway into secure government service roles in the state.
CM Dhami’s Masterstroke Ahead of Elections
As Uttarakhand is home to a large military community, this move is being seen as both politically strategic and deeply respectful. CM Dhami stated:
“Former Agniveers who have served the nation are the pride of our state. It is our responsibility to provide them respect and employment opportunities. This decision is a concrete step toward securing their future.”
Support for Martyrs’ Families: Ex-Gratia Increased to ₹50 Lakh
In addition to benefits for Agniveers, the government has also significantly enhanced compensation and support for families of martyrs–
- Ex-gratia for martyred soldiers increased from ₹10 lakh to ₹50 lakh
- Param Vir Chakra awardees will now receive ₹1.5 crore (up from ₹50 lakh)
- One dependent of a martyred soldier to get a government job
These steps are designed to provide not just financial security but also social recognition to those who have laid down their lives for the nation.
Sainya Dham: Uttarakhand’s Fifth Pilgrimage Site Now Ready
Uttarakhand’s military spirit has now been immortalized in the newly completed Sainya Dham in Dehradun, declared as the fifth dham of the state. This Dham honors the valor, sacrifice, and patriotism of the armed forces and is envisioned as a permanent symbol of Veerbhoomi (Land of the Brave).
Uttarakhand is known not only as the Land of the Gods (Devbhoomi) but also as the Land of the Brave (Veerbhoomi). Almost every family here has at least one member serving in the armed forces, protecting the borders of the nation. CM Dhami’s recent decisions are seen as steps that will further strengthen this glorious tradition.
“Uttarakhand is not just Devbhoomi (Land of the Gods); it is also Veerbhoomi,” said CM Dhami. “Every family here has a soldier, a protector of the nation. Sainya Dham is our salute to their courage.”
