Dehradun: In a major relief for social security beneficiaries, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has released the January 2026 installment of pensions to over 9.47 lakh beneficiaries through a single-click digital transfer. A total of ₹141.66 crore was transferred directly to bank accounts under the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system, covering both regular pension and arrears payments.
One-Click Transfer Strengthens Transparent Governance
The initiative, conducted from the Chief Minister’s residence, reflects the state government’s commitment to technology-driven, transparent, and efficient governance. CM Dhami emphasized that the government aims to ensure benefits reach the last person in society without delays or bureaucratic hurdles.
He said, “Pension schemes are not just financial assistance but a foundation for a dignified life. Our goal is to ensure that benefits reach eligible citizens transparently and on time.”

Strengthening Eligibility and Verification
The CM instructed officials to further strengthen the eligibility and verification process for social security schemes. Between December 1, 2025, and February 3, 2026, 1,523 ineligible names were removed from the portal after verification, while 15,784 new beneficiaries were added to the social security pension schemes.
The government’s emphasis on DBT and verification has helped curb misuse and ensure that only genuine beneficiaries receive the pension.
Digital Pension Portal Ensures Automatic Approvals
Uttarakhand’s digital pension portal has streamlined the process of pension approval. Between April 2024 and January 2026, 428 eligible citizens automatically received old-age pensions upon reaching 60 years of age, demonstrating a faster and more efficient eligibility assessment system.
The pensions distributed include old-age, widow, disabled, farmer, destitute, and Teelu Rauteli schemes, among others.
Focus on Social Welfare and Accountability
The CM directed the Department of Social Welfare to ensure that the entire process of eligibility verification, assessment, and payment is further strengthened. The government is committed to delivering social security benefits without interruption, reaching the most vulnerable sections of society.
