As the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 completed five years today, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Mr. Pushkar Singh Dhami lauded the progressive reforms initiated under the policy and highlighted the state’s pioneering efforts in its implementation.
Speaking at a special event organized as part of the All India Education Samagam in Khatima, Udham Singh Nagar, the Chief Minister said that Uttarakhand is the first state in the country to fully implement the NEP 2020. He emphasized that this achievement reflects the state government’s commitment to educational transformation.
Mr. Dhami informed that, under the NEP framework, the state has introduced Balvatika (pre-primary) classes in over 5,600 Anganwadi centres, marking a significant milestone in early childhood education and laying the foundation for holistic learning.
He also praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for spearheading the comprehensive education reform through NEP 2020, calling it a “historic step” that has redefined India’s educational goals and structure. The Chief Minister added that the policy focuses on nurturing creativity, critical thinking, and foundational literacy, while aligning the education system with global standards.
Mr. Dhami reaffirmed Uttarakhand’s resolve to continue taking forward the spirit of the NEP by ensuring quality education for every child, especially in remote and rural areas.
