Natural Gas Innovation and Global Partnerships
Addressing experts gathered from across the country, Mr. Dhami stated, “After Prime Minister Modi became the Prime Minister, several research works and partnerships with countries around the world are being conducted in the field of natural gas and ONGC.” He lauded the central leadership for significantly advancing India’s stature in the energy sector, with Uttarakhand playing an active role in the transformation.
He emphasized that by establishing better coordination between economy, ecology, and technology, India can become a global power in the oil and gas sector. The event served as a platform to discuss challenges, opportunities, and the future course for India’s oil and natural gas industries.
Boosting Sustainable Urban Development
As part of the state’s efforts to build an eco-conscious future, CM Dhami inaugurated projects worth Rs. 190 crore in Dehradun. These include:
- An electric vehicle (EV) charging station
- An automated parking system
Both initiatives are intended to strengthen urban infrastructure and promote sustainable transportation solutions.
Uttarakhand’s Environmental Commitments
Furthering its commitment to environmental conservation, the state has also initiated the calculation of Gross Environmental Product (GEP) to monitor and encourage sustainable development. In the energy space, the government is working on various renewable energy projects, including pump storage projects and wind-solar hybrid plants, aimed at boosting clean energy capacity in the region.
Tributes to Former PM PV Narasimha Rao
Earlier in the day, CM Dhami paid tribute to former Prime Minister PV Narasimha Rao on the eve of his birth anniversary. In a heartfelt message on social media platform X, he wrote:
“Heartfelt tributes on the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister, the late P.V. Narasimha Rao Ji. Under your visionary leadership, India took historic steps toward economic liberalisation. Your contributions to the field of national development continue to inspire us all.”
Mr. Rao was posthumously awarded the Bharat Ratna, India’s highest civilian honour, in March 2024. Born in 1921 in Telangana, he served as India’s ninth Prime Minister from 1991 to 1996 and is widely credited with initiating India’s economic liberalisation that laid the foundation for the country’s modern economic growth.
Over the course of his illustrious career, Mr. Rao held several important portfolios including Law, Education, Health, Defence, and Home Affairs. His leadership is remembered for steering the country through a critical economic transition and for dismantling the restrictive License Raj.
Uttarakhand Moving Towards Energy and Economic Leadership
With its strategic approach to renewable energy, infrastructure upgrades, and environmental conservation, Uttarakhand under CM Dhami continues to emerge as a model for balanced economic and ecological development. The initiatives showcased during the Oil Sector Meet and the tributes to visionary national leaders reflect the state’s alignment with Prime Minister Modi’s larger vision of a Viksit Bharat (Developed India) by 2047.
