The state of Uttarakhand got its first woman Chief Secretary today. According to an order issued on Wednesday, the government has appointed IAS officer Radha Raturi as the new chief secretary of the state. Ms. Raturi, who is an IAS officer of 1988 batch, will replace Dr. SS Sandhu, whose tenure has ended today. Dr. Sandhu was given an extension of six months post-retirement, which was completed today.
IAS officer Radha Raturi was serving as Additional Chief Secretary, Home and Secretariat Administration, Uttarakhand. She is one of the few people who could crack UPSC CSE in all of their attempts. Before joining IAS, she got selected for IPS and Indian Information Service. Having a background in journalism, Ms. Raturi came into civil services to make a difference, and she’s put in her best efforts to succeed in her aim in every posting. She served in Uttar Pradesh and then came to Uttarakhand after the division. She has served in various crucial positions, including Chief Electoral Officer of Uttarakhand for 10 years.
Besides the professional front which speaks of her efficiency as a bureaucrat, she is also a master of many arts. Whether it is writing, photography, or folk singing, her talents find expression in many ways.
