Strengthening Disaster Management and Glacier Studies
Addressing the gathering, Mr. Dhami announced that regular studies will be conducted on the Gangotri glacier and other Himalayan glaciers, along with their surrounding areas. The state’s disaster management department will be further strengthened to ensure predictive and proactive management of natural calamities, underscoring Uttarakhand’s focus on sustainable and safe development in the Himalayan region.
Key Development Announcements for Citizens
The Chief Minister made five major announcements aimed at improving basic amenities, education, and welfare in the state:
- Schools lacking gas cylinders and stoves under the Mid-Day Meal Scheme will now receive two gas cylinders and one stove each.
- Ten hand pumps will be installed in every assembly constituency facing drinking water shortages.
- The honorarium for village watchmen and village guards will be increased by Rs. 1,000.
- Block representatives under the Sainik Welfare Department will receive an honorarium increase of Rs. 2,000.
- Special educational centers will be set up at the district level to promote distance and employment-oriented higher education, coordinated by Uttarakhand Open University.
