New Delhi: In a significant administrative development, senior bureaucrat V Srinivas (IAS:1989:RJ) has been given additional charge as Secretary, Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT). Srinivas, who currently serves as Secretary of the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG) and the Department of Pensions and Pensioners’ Welfare, will hold the DoPT position from September 4 to September 14, 2025, during the leave of Rachana Shah (IAS:1991:KL).
The temporary appointment was notified by the DoPT on Thursday and approved by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC).
Who is V Srinivas?
A 1989-batch IAS officer of the Rajasthan cadre, V Srinivas is known for his leadership in administrative reforms, e-governance, and grievance redressal systems. Under his current roles, he has been instrumental in digital governance and pension reforms.
His brief tenure as DoPT Secretary adds to his portfolio of managing key personnel-related reforms across the central government.
GeM Leadership Change: Amit Kumar Agrawal’s Tenure Curtailed
In a parallel development, the government has curtailed the tenure of Amit Kumar Agrawal (IOFS:2002) as Deputy CEO of the Government e-Marketplace (GeM). According to a separate order issued by DoPT on September 4, 2025, the ACC approved the Department of Commerce’s proposal to relieve him of his duties ahead of his original tenure end-date.
Agrawal had been appointed to the platform in May 2021 with a five-year fixed term and was later promoted to Deputy CEO, with the position set to continue until May 2026. The reason for the premature conclusion of his tenure has not been publicly disclosed.
