Bhubaneswar: In a significant development for Odisha’s renewable energy infrastructure, WAPCOS Ltd. and the Odisha Hydro Power Corporation (OHPC) have signed a contract agreement to provide Project Management Consultancy (PMC) services for the 600 MW Upper Indravati Pumped Storage Project. The agreement was signed and exchanged on June 6, 2025, in Bhubaneswar.

The signing ceremony took place in the esteemed presence of Mr. Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo, Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister of Odisha. Senior government officials, including Ms. Anu Garg, IAS, Development Commissioner-cum-Additional Chief Secretary (WRD and Planning & Convergence Department), and Mr. Vishal Kumar Dev, IAS, Principal Secretary (Energy), Government of Odisha, also attended the event.
The agreement was formally exchanged between Amitabh Tripathi, Director (Commercial & HRD), WAPCOS and A. K. Mohanty, Director (Operation), OHPC.

The Upper Indravati Pumped Storage Project, with a proposed capacity of 600 MW, represents a strategic investment in pumped hydro energy storage, a technology key to balancing intermittent renewable sources like solar and wind. The PMC services agreement marks a crucial step in the project’s development lifecycle, ensuring technical, commercial, and operational efficiency in execution.
