New Delhi: The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) announced on Tuesday that 2004 batch Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer Amit Kumar Mishra has been appointed as India’s next Ambassador to Georgia. Currently serving at the MEA Headquarters in New Delhi, Mr Mishra is expected to assume his new role shortly.
MEA Confirms Appointment
In an official statement, the Ministry of External Affairs said –
“Shri Amit Kumar Mishra (IFS: 2004), presently at Headquarters, has been appointed as the next Ambassador of India to Georgia. He is expected to take up the assignment shortly.”
This appointment comes as part of India’s routine diplomatic postings and underscores the country’s continued efforts to strengthen bilateral relations with Georgia.
About Amit Kumar Mishra
Mr Mishra is a career diplomat of the 2004 batch of the Indian Foreign Service. With over two decades of service in Indian diplomacy, he has accumulated extensive experience in international relations, consular work, and policy management both in India and abroad.
Educational Background
Mr. Mishra holds a Master’s degree in Botany with a specialization in Biotechnology, which he completed at Jai Narain Vyas University (formerly University of Jodhpur) between 1998 and 2002. He is proficient in Hindi, English, and Arabic, reflecting his strong linguistic abilities in addition to his diplomatic expertise.

Over the past 22 years, Mr. Mishra has served in various high-profile roles, demonstrating his versatility in political, commercial, cultural, educational, and diaspora affairs.

- Consul General of India, São Paulo, Brazil: Oversaw consular and diplomatic activities in Brazil.
