New Delhi: Abhishek Tiwari, a 2013-batch IPS officer of the Madhya Pradesh (MP) cadre, has resigned from the Indian Police Service (IPS) to venture into the field of cyber technology. Currently on central deputation at the National Technical Research Organisation (NTRO), Delhi, Tiwari plans to launch his own cybersecurity startup, sources said.
Academic and Professional Background
Born on April 6, 1984, in Seoni, Madhya Pradesh, Abhishek Tiwari holds a B.Tech. in Electronics and Communications Engineering from Jabalpur Engineering College and a PGDM in Finance from IIM Indore.
Before joining the IPS, he worked as a Deputy Manager at a management company in Mumbai for two years. He cleared the UPSC Civil Services Exam in 2012 and joined the IPS in 2013.
Service History in Madhya Pradesh
During his tenure in the MP Cadre, Tiwari served in several prominent postings:
- Balaghat (SP) – His first posting as Superintendent of Police. He was awarded the President’s Police Medal for Gallantry for operations against Naxalites in the region.
- Ratlam (SP) – Served as SP from February 2022.
- Sagar (SP) – Removed from post after a tragic wall collapse in Shahpur, Rehli Assembly constituency, which resulted in the death of nine children. The Chief Minister ordered the removal of the SP, Collector, and SDM of the district following the incident.
He also held other positions, including City SP in Ujjain, Assistant SP in Indore, Additional SP in Gwalior, and Commandant in Mandla.
