Jaisalmer: Chief of the Army Staff (COAS), General Upendra Dwivedi, commended Jaisalmer Superintendent of Police (SP) Sudheer Choudhary, an IPS officer of 2015 batch from Rajasthan cadre, for his exceptional role in maintaining law and order during Operation Sindoor, a high-intensity military exercise simulating a war-like situation in the western desert region.
While visiting the forward base at Laungewala in the Konark Corps sector, General Dwivedi awarded a commendation to SP Choudhary, recognizing his coordination with the armed forces and crisis management during the complex joint operation involving the Indian Army, Indian Air Force (IAF), and Border Security Force (BSF).
Mr Sudheer, a 2015-batch IPS officer, was instrumental in ensuring civil stability in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan’s largest and strategically vital district along the Pakistan border, during the execution of the operation.

About IPS Sudheer Choudhary
IPS Sudhir was born in the village of Bagaria Bas, located in Srimadhopur tehsil of Sikar district. His father, Laxman Ram, serves as a Joint Director in the Agriculture Department. Sudhir began his schooling in Srimadhopur and later continued his education in Bundi, Jaipur, and Kota. He pursued higher education at IIT Roorkee, where he earned a B. Tech degree.
After graduating, he worked in the corporate sector for a year, but his true aspiration lay in joining the police service. In 2012, he was selected for the Military Engineering Service, and the following year, he was selected for the Indian Forest Service. Ultimately, in 2014, he was selected for the Indian Police Service and joined the Rajasthan cadre as part of the 2015 batch.
During his time at IIT Roorkee, Sudhir was the captain of the tennis team. His passion for tennis continued even after joining the police service, culminating in a gold medal win in tennis singles for the Indian Police Academy. Despite a demanding schedule, he never compromises on fitness – if unable to exercise in the morning, he ensures he completes his workout later in the day.

Mr Sudhir has also contributed significantly to academic research. He has presented papers at various conferences, particularly focusing on cybercrime and technological advancements. During his academic years, he collaborated with fellow student Vidit Gaur on a research project related to disc brake technology in wheels. Another of his projects, titled Comfort Mechanical Vibration, received recognition from several esteemed institutions.
In 2023, he authored a research paper on the application of Artificial Intelligence in Crowd Control and presented it to the Director General of Police, Uttar Pradesh. He has also written papers on cryptocurrency and Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC).
Beyond his academic and professional achievements, Sudhir has made significant contributions to society. While posted in Rajsamand, he played a key role in the swift arrest of the accused in the high-profile Kanhaiya Lal murder case in Udaipur – apprehending the culprits within just five hours. Furthermore, within a few days, he helped establish the accused’s Pakistan links through concrete evidence. In recognition of his exceptional work, he was awarded the DGP Disc by the Police Headquarters.
Operation Sindoor: A Landmark Joint Exercise
General Dwivedi praised the professionalism and synergy displayed by the forces during Operation Sindoor, which was carried out across the desert belt from Jaisalmer to the Kutch region. The joint operation featured swift deployment of surveillance assets, air defence systems, and strategic weapon placements-executed seamlessly in collaboration with civil authorities.
The Army Chief reviewed the performance of the forces and noted that the coordinated action successfully blunted adversarial threats, reaffirming India’s operational dominance along the western front.
A Tribute to Desert Warriors
Addressing the troops, General Dwivedi lauded the fortitude and resilience of personnel operating in extreme desert conditions during peak summer. “Your commitment and capability under challenging circumstances uphold the honour and traditions of the Indian Army,” he said, also expressing the Nation’s gratitude for their unwavering service.
He reiterated the Army’s preparedness to counter future threats with “decisive force and integrated action”, underlining the importance of civil-military cooperation in modern warfare scenarios.
