The Madhya Pradesh government has temporarily halted the large-scale transfer and promotion exercise for IAS officers. This decision has been taken in view of the upcoming major women’s conference scheduled in Bhopal on May 31, which will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The government aims to ensure administrative stability and focus entirely on the success of the event.

Although preparations for the transfer exercise are reportedly complete and discussions have been held at senior levels, the implementation has been deferred. The government plans to assign new postings with specific goals and responsibilities to ensure better outcomes, and feedback from officers is also being considered to maintain transparency and effectiveness.
Meanwhile, the state is witnessing internal disagreements over the proposed promotion policy. Some employee associations have warned the General Administration Department against implementing stringent rules that go against their suggestions, prompting the government to pause the process to avoid further controversy.
