Agra: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is set to give Agra a historic development boost today by inaugurating and laying the foundation of 320 major projects worth ₹6,777 crore. Among these, the flagship Greater Agra Project under the Agra Development Authority (ADA) stands out, with an investment of ₹5,142 crore.
Historic Development Initiative for Agra
CM Yogi took to X (formerly Twitter) to share details of the projects, stating:
“On the sacred land of Agra, preserving historical grandeur and global heritage, a new chapter of development is beginning today.”
The initiatives aim to modernize Agra while preserving its rich heritage, providing better facilities, and enhancing the quality of life for residents.
Greater Agra Project: Transforming the City
Under the Urban Expansion/New City Incentive Scheme, the Greater Agra Project will see the development of 10 state-of-the-art townships along the Raipur-Rehnkalan corridor. These townships will include thousands of residential plots across EWS, LIG, MIG, and HIG categories, as well as commercial and mixed-use plots to ensure balanced growth.
The project spans 449.65 hectares and is expected to reduce population pressure while promoting organized urban expansion.
Township Names and Facilities
The new townships are inspired by India’s major rivers, with initial phases launching Gangapuram, Narmadapuram, and Mahanadipuram. These areas will feature modern amenities, wide roads, and green spaces to improve residents’ quality of life.
Improved Connectivity Across Cities
Strategically located near the Inner Ring Road, the townships will have direct connectivity to Yamuna Expressway and Lucknow Expressway, facilitating smooth travel to other cities and promoting economic and commercial activities.
Project Cost, Booking, and Investment Opportunities
The initial plot price is set at ₹33,000 per square meter, with final approval expected from ADA’s board. Public booking will start approximately a month after the foundation-laying ceremony. Analysts believe this project could significantly boost Agra’s real estate and investment potential.
CM Yogi’s Busy Development Schedule
The Chief Minister’s itinerary includes visits to Kheria Airport, Vrindavan, and a public assembly at Raipur, where he will inaugurate multiple projects and highlight the government’s development achievements.
Agra is poised to become a modern, well-planned city while maintaining its global heritage, marking a significant milestone in Uttar Pradesh’s urban development vision.
