Gorakhpur: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath inaugurated the city’s fifth Kalyan Mandap in Bichhiya Colony, Ward 22, Jungle Tulsiram, providing modern facilities for social, cultural, and public events. The Mandap, constructed at a cost of ₹2.47 crore by the Gorakhpur Development Authority (GDA) through the CM’s MLA fund, aims to offer affordable, high-quality amenities for lower- and middle-income residents.
Affordable Luxury Facilities for Citizens
The new Kalyan Mandap includes a large hall, kitchen, storage, and separate toilets for men and women, making it suitable for weddings, cultural events, and community gatherings. CM Yogi emphasized that residents will no longer need to spend heavily on hotels or private marriage halls, as the Mandap offers modern facilities at minimal user charges.
Five more Kalyan Mandaps are under construction in Jungle Beni Madhav, Basharatpur, Nakha, Mahadev Jharkhandi, and Semra, which will further enhance community infrastructure and generate local employment opportunities.
Urban Development and Improved Infrastructure
CM Yogi highlighted the transformation of Bichhiya area from a waterlogged, muddy locality into a model of effective drainage and road infrastructure. He cited the development of AIIMS, fertilizer factories, and four-lane connectivity as examples of Gorakhpur’s rapid urban growth and modern amenities.
Focus on Cleanliness and Environment
Addressing environmental concerns, CM Adityanath urged citizens to protect public property and reduce single-use plastics, warning that neglecting environmental protection could lead to severe air pollution similar to Delhi’s AQI crisis. He also highlighted the government’s successful eradication of encephalitis, emphasizing public health achievements under his administration.
Housing and Future Development Plans
During the event, CM Yogi distributed allotment letters to 10 beneficiaries of the Raptinagar Expansion Sports City Housing Scheme under EWS and LIG categories. He also mentioned upcoming large-scale housing projects in Maniram to provide homes for all income groups.
MP Ravikishan praised CM Yogi’s leadership, noting that Uttar Pradesh is steadily progressing towards becoming a one-trillion-dollar economy.
Kalyan Mandap: A Key Community Facility
The newly inaugurated Mandap can host up to 300 people for weddings, social celebrations, cultural programs, and other community events. This facility is expected to significantly benefit local residents by providing affordable, well-equipped spaces for public and private functions.
The inauguration of the fifth Kalyan Mandap in Gorakhpur demonstrates the state government’s continued focus on community development, urban infrastructure, and citizen-centric initiatives.
