Lucknow: The National Interventional Council 2026 was inaugurated in Lucknow at the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Medical University, bringing together leading cardiology experts from India and several countries. The event was organized by the Cardiology Society of India and inaugurated by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
The conference focused on advancements in interventional cardiology and the growing challenge of lifestyle-related diseases.

- Operation of 81 medical colleges
- Establishment of two AIIMS institutions
- Expansion of free healthcare under national and state schemes
- Coverage extended to multiple worker groups including ASHA workers, cooks, education assistants, and others
He said millions of people are now benefiting from free or affordable healthcare services.

Government Push for Affordable and Accessible Healthcare
The Chief Minister also highlighted steps taken to make healthcare more affordable:
- Promotion of pharma parks
- Efforts to reduce cost of medical equipment
- Expansion of healthcare infrastructure
These measures aim to ensure easier access to quality treatment for all sections of society.
Rising Lifestyle Diseases and Changing Habits
CM Yogi expressed concern over increasing lifestyle-related health issues, linking them to:
- Irregular daily routines
- Poor eating habits
- Excessive smartphone usage
He noted that people now spend several hours daily on mobile devices, contributing to health problems.
