NTPC Talcher Thermal concluded its flagship Girl Empowerment Mission 2025 with a vibrant and emotional community event, marking the culmination of a four-week residential program designed to uplift and empower underprivileged girls from nearby villages.
Held at the NTPC Talcher Thermal campus, the event saw enthusiastic participation from the local community, NTPC officials, and the girls’ families. Vijay Chand, Executive Director and Head of Project, graced the ceremony as Chief Guest, while Vibha Agarwal, President of Sagarika Ladies Club, was the Guest of Honour.
The initiative provided holistic training in key areas such as digital literacy, spoken English, health and hygiene, personality development, art and craft, and child rights, blending education with empowerment. The goal: to build confidence, broaden horizons, and ignite ambition among rural girls.
From self-defence demonstrations and yoga to musical performances and a powerful street play on gender equality by FIZA Arts, the girls showcased their newfound skills and self-assurance. The street play, in particular, received a standing ovation, highlighting the impact of the program on both participants and spectators.
“This mission is more than a program—it’s a movement,” said Vijay Chand. “By investing in the potential of these young girls, we are shaping the future of our communities and the nation.”
Aligned with NTPC’s CSR goals and national missions like ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ and ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’, the Girl Empowerment Mission continues to foster real change by bridging the gender gap and creating future-ready citizens.
