Senior IPS officer Arun Bothra joined countless Indians online in ridiculing a bizarre claim circulating on social media — that the Pakistan Navy had supposedly destroyed the “Bangalore Port.” The only problem? Bengaluru, the capital of Karnataka, is a landlocked city located over 300 kilometres from the nearest coast.
As tensions rise between India and Pakistan, social media platforms have been flooded with misinformation. One such glaring example was a post by a user named Faward Ur Rehman, who proudly declared that the Pakistan Navy had taken down the “Bangalore Port.” The post quickly went viral, drawing laughter and disbelief across Indian social media.
Mockery ensued, with Arun Bothra humorously responding, “Bangalore has only USB ports,” poking fun at the geographical blunder. IAS officer Awanish Sharan joined in the banter, referencing another absurd claim about the “Patna sea port” — despite Patna also being nowhere near the sea.
