A food festival at Bihar Bhawan in New Delhi was a big hit as people loved the rich cuisine and culture that were laid out. On social media, netizens reacted about the food festival and thanked the Bihar government and Bihar Bhawan for organizing it.
It was a 3-day food extravaganza from August 18-20, 12 pm-8 pm, at Bihar Bhawan on 5, Kautilya Marg. Food lovers got a chance to indulge in delectable dishes showcasing Bihar’s rich cuisine and culture. It was organized by the Department of Tourism, Government of Bihar, in association with the Ministry of Tourism.
2004 batch IAS officer Kundan Kumar, the Resident Commissioner at Bihar Bhawan, said, “We’re thrilled with the turnout and love for authentic flavours. A big ‘thank you’ to everyone for making it a success. The response was encouraging. Promise to come back with the next one soon during the upcoming festive season. Hope to make that bigger and better.”

Actually, Ministry of Tourism in association with the different state governments /UTs organized the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav and Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat Food Festival in the capital from 18-20 August 2023.
The aim of the festival was to celebrate the rich culinary diversity of India. The event showcased state-specific cuisines and promoted awareness of the unique offerings within each region, while fostering a sense of togetherness.
A few states also organized a handicraft exhibition in tandem with the food festival in the premises of their respective Bhawans.

The event promoted the concept of Dekho Apna Desh, which has been one of the successful programs of the Indian government for encouraging citizens to explore hidden treasures of their country. The food festival was not only a celebration of India’s rich culture and heritage but also a celebration of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav and promotion of the spirit of Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat. The collaborative efforts of the Ministry of Tourism, state governments, and various stakeholders ensured the success of this enriching experience.
