Bureaucrats implement the government policies and serve the common people. But few of them become people’s favourite through their hard work and compassion. 2013 batch IAS officer of Uttar Pradesh cadre, Ms. Divya Mittal is one such officer.

She was posted as DM of Mirzapur in UP. But two days before, she got transferred to Basti district and was posted as DM. When she was leaving, people of Mirzapur got emotional.

During the farewell programme, a large number of people showered the IAS officer with rose petals. The video of the DM’s farewell is going viral on social media.

Ms. Mittal won the hearts of the peoples of Mirzapur with her work in the tenure of 11 months.

Mirzapur’s social organizations, Pradhan Sangh and Traders Association, organized a farewell ceremony, where rose petals were showered on the outgoing District Magistrate.

After the news of the transfer of the DM became public, a farewell ceremony was organized on Sunday from the Collectorate Auditorium to various other places in the district. The social organization, Pradhan Sangh and Merchant Sangh, organized a farewell ceremony late in the evening on the paved ghat of the river Ganges.

During the event, both the general public and the people of the organization praised the District Magistrate highly. The DM got emotional and told the people that she had ever experienced such affection ever before.

Ms. Mittal directly connected to the people through Jan Chaupal in all villages of the district and solved their problems. Her working style was to go to the people, talk to them, find out their problems, and give instructions to her colleagues for their solutions.

Divya Mittal

She came to Mirzapur from Sant Kabir Nagar. From the beginning, she tried to connect with the public to solve the problems of the district. She organized ‘Chunar Mahotsav’ which was very successful. For the first time, this kind of event was organized at the election fort. She also built Kajali Park in the name of ‘Kajali’, a folk song of the district, and organized Kajali Mahotsav.

She made a lot of efforts for fast paced construction work of the Vindhya Corridor. Along with this, the road leading to the famous Pakka Ghat of the city was widened.

Recently, when farmers complained about not getting water from Bansagar Canal, the DM scolded the officials publicly. The video of this incident also went viral on social media. In the video, DM Divya was seen saying that “Mirzapur is ours. First, the farmers here will get the water of Bansagar, then it will go to other districts.”
