With the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) Civil Services Examination (CSE) Prelims 2025 drawing closer, Indian Forest Service (IFS) officer Arushi Mishra has offered valuable insights on the social media platform Instagram to aspirants aiming to crack the prestigious examination.
In a recent message, Ms Mishra outlined five crucial points to guide candidates in their preparation:
- Assess and Plan: She emphasised the importance of self-assessment and planning. She advised aspirants to clearly write down their syllabus coverage and their current preparedness level on an A4 sheet.
- Effective Time Management: Stressing the need for a balanced approach, IFS Arushi Mishra highlighted the significance of allocating time for revision of previously studied material, learning new topics, and incorporating internet-based study resources.
- Prioritise Revision: To ensure better retention and familiarity with the subjects, she recommended a robust revision strategy, suggesting that the same topics should be revised at least three times within a week.
- Solve Mock Tests: Underscoring the importance of practice, she advised aspirants to solve complete sets of test papers from a coaching institute, thoroughly analyse their solutions, and subsequently revise them.
- Master Exam-Taking Techniques: Ms Mishra shared a strategic approach to tackle the actual examination, suggesting the “40-30-20 rule.” According to this technique, candidates should aim to solve the questions they are confident about within the first 40 minutes, address doubtful questions in the next 30 minutes, and attempt the seemingly difficult questions in the final 20 minutes. She also advised attempting a minimum of 90 questions.
IFS Arushi Mishra concluded her advice by extending her best wishes to all the aspirants. Her guidance, stemming from her own experience in navigating the competitive examination, is expected to provide valuable direction to those preparing for the UPSC CSE Prelims 2025.
