Ten spot-billed pelicans’ lives were saved when the Tamil Nadu forest department rescued them in the nick of time. These birds were struggling to survive when they were found by the department, all oil soaked in the aftermath of oil spillage in a creek.
After rescue, the birds were treated, rehabilitated, and released at the same place where they were found.
Senior IAS officer Supriya Sahu, who is the Additional Chief Secretary of the environment and forest departments of Tamil Nadu, posted about this rescue on X, praising the good work of the rescue team. Here is her tweet:
