Whenever election is round the corner in India, the reservation debate comes to the fore. This time, five states will go to polls in next few weeks. So reservation debates are raging everywhere.
IIT and IIM alumnus and currently civil servant, Nethrapal’s post on X sparked a new debate among netizens. He shared a post regarding merit in UPSC CSE exams.
He shared an old post of well known journalist Dilip Mandal on reservation. Sharing the post, Mr. Nethrapal wrote, “Merit! What Merit!! Analysis shows that in UPSC, 60 to 70% of SC ST OBC cleared the general merit cutoff in written exams. See below.”
While Mr. Mandal posted on X, “UPSC Interview scam started in 1950. The story of 1st IAS topper. In that year, Achyutananda Das, SC, secured 609 out of 1050 in the written while N. Krishnan, a Brahmin scored 602. But in the interview, Krishnan secured 260 out of 300 in contrast to Das’ 110.”
