Dehradun: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has unveiled a detailed and strict action plan for the Char Dham Yatra 2026, aiming to make the annual pilgrimage more organized, safe, environmentally friendly, and technologically advanced. The initiative reflects the government’s commitment to enhancing the overall experience of pilgrims visiting from across India and abroad.

Focus on Safety, Cleanliness, and Technology

During a high-level review meeting at the state secretariat, the Chief Minister emphasized that human sensitivity must take priority over commercial interests. He instructed officials to treat pilgrims’ safety and comfort as a personal responsibility.

Under the “Green and Clean Char Dham Yatra” initiative, the government has announced a complete ban on plastic usage along the pilgrimage routes. Collection boxes will be installed at multiple locations, and strict monitoring will ensure compliance.

Strict Action Against Misinformation

The government has also warned of strict legal action against fake news and rumors related to the Yatra. FIRs will be registered against individuals or groups spreading misinformation that could disrupt the pilgrimage.

Enhanced Helicopter and Transport Management

Taking a firm stance on helicopter services, Dhami directed authorities to ensure:

  • Mandatory compliance with SOPs
  • Regular maintenance and fitness checks
  • Prevention of overloading
  • Adequate rest intervals for safe operations

For traffic management, alternative routes will be identified, and deployment of police and home guards will be increased at sensitive points.

Digital Monitoring and Registration System

To manage large crowds efficiently, the state will introduce:

  • AI-based CCTV surveillance systems
  • Digital crowd monitoring tools
  • Slot-based darshan system

The online registration process will be simplified and strengthened, with additional counters set up to reduce waiting time and congestion.

Strengthening Health and Emergency Services

The government plans to establish:

  • Medical units and temporary hospitals along routes
  • Adequate drinking water and sanitation facilities
  • Expanded veterinary services for animals used in the यात्रा

Emergency preparedness will be enhanced with teams from State Disaster Response Force and National Disaster Response Force on high alert. A 24×7 control room and helpline will ensure rapid response.

Supply Chain and Price Regulation

To prevent shortages, district officials will monitor the daily supply of:

  • Gas
  • Petrol and diesel
  • Essential commodities

Shops along the route must display rate lists to avoid overpricing, ensuring transparency for pilgrims.

Infrastructure Development and Beautification

Special focus will be given to:

  • Road repairs and pothole filling
  • Cleanliness drives
  • Signage installation
  • Development of selfie points and beautification projects

Community Participation and Continuous Monitoring

The Chief Minister stressed the importance of involving:

  • Local bodies
  • NGOs
  • Youth volunteers

to transform the Yatra into a people’s movement. Regular review meetings will be conducted to monitor progress and implement improvements based on past experiences.

The Char Dham Yatra 2026 action plan reflects Uttarakhand’s commitment to delivering a safe, eco-friendly, and digitally empowered pilgrimage experience. With strict governance, advanced monitoring, and a human-centric approach, the state aims to set a new benchmark in pilgrimage management.
