As Chhattisgarh celebrates its 25th foundation year, the state reflects on a remarkable journey from its inception in 2000 to its silver jubilee in 2025. A reputed news organisation marked the occasion by hosting the Chhattisgarh Conclave 2025, where Chief Minister Mr. Vishnu Deo Sai highlighted the state’s transformative progress in governance, infrastructure, social welfare, and security.
From Scarcity to Security: A New Era of Development
Mr. Vishnu Deo Sai recalled the challenging early years when many residents struggled to access food even once in 24 hours. He said that the formation of the state triggered a development wave that changed the face of Chhattisgarh.
He emphasized that the removal of stigma, the introduction of food security measures, and the availability of rice for one rupee per kilogram fundamentally improved the lives of millions. Over 25 years, the state has expanded water supply, electricity access, and road connectivity—especially in rural regions.
He acknowledged the lasting contributions of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and credited significant advancements in education and medical sectors to consistent governance efforts.
PM Narendra Modi’s Special Bond with Chhattisgarh
The Chief Minister highlighted that Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi has a deep and personal connection with Chhattisgarh, having closely observed its people and challenges over the years.
He said that the PM’s unwavering support energizes the state’s leadership. Chhattisgarh, once heavily affected by Naxalism, is now witnessing a dramatic decline in extremist activities due to the combined strength of the ‘double-engine government’ and the bravery of security forces.
Mr. Sai added that initiatives like the Bastar Olympics were launched to integrate remote tribal communities and foster development in regions once isolated from mainstream progress.
Two Years of Governance: Delivering on ‘Modi Guarantee’
As the current government completes two years in December, Mr. Sai clarified that his administration is committed to development rather than political retaliation.
He underlined that fulfilling Prime Minister Modi’s promises—popularly known as the ‘Modi Guarantee’—has been a key priority. Within just two years, the government has implemented several major schemes aimed at empowerment, welfare, and inclusive growth.
Key Schemes Driving Welfare and Empowerment
• Mahtari Vandan Yojana – focused on financial empowerment of women
• Increased tendu leaf procurement price – ensuring better income for forest gatherers
• Charan Paduka Yojana – welfare initiative designed to uplift tribal communities
Strengthening Laws and Ensuring Social Harmony
Addressing social issues, Mr. Sai stated that India is a secular nation, and citizens are free to choose their religion. However, he stressed that exploiting someone’s helplessness or illiteracy for religious conversion is unacceptable.
He added that Chhattisgarh already has laws regulating religious conversion and these will be strengthened further. With the winter session approaching, additional legislative steps will be undertaken to safeguard vulnerable communities.
