Japanese companies, in particular, continue to expand their presence across NICDC industrial cities, reflecting strong confidence in India’s manufacturing and investment environment.
JBIC Delegation Reviews India’s First Semicon City
Mr. Nobumitsu Hayashi, Governor of the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC), led a delegation to the National Industrial Corridor Development Corporation (NICDC) flagship industrial park, Dholera Special Investment Region (Dholera SIR), to assess India’s emerging Semicon City. The delegation reviewed the world-class planning, infrastructure readiness, and strong governance framework that make Dholera globally competitive for semiconductor and electronics investments.
Tata Electronics Semiconductor Fabrication Facility: A Landmark Investment
The delegation visited the Tata Electronics Semiconductor Fabrication Facility, a 163-acre plant being developed with an investment of Rs 91,000 crore in partnership with Powerchip Semiconductor Manufacturing Corporation (PSMC), Taiwan. Scheduled to commence production in 2027, the facility will produce 50,000 wafers per month across 110 nm to 28 nm nodes, creating over 20,000 high-skilled jobs and positioning India as a key player in global semiconductor value chains.
Strengthening India–Japan Technological Collaboration
Mr. Hayashi emphasized that the facility would bolster India–Japan technological cooperation and contribute significantly to the global semiconductor ecosystem. The visit follows the recent engagement of Mr. Ono Keiichi, Ambassador of Japan to India and Bhutan, who led a 70-member Japanese business delegation spanning semiconductors, electronics, machinery, infrastructure, logistics, and financial services.
Dholera SIR: India’s Greenfield Smart Industrial City at the Forefront
Over the past year, Dholera has hosted multiple delegations from JBIC, the Japan Chamber of Commerce, the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), JICA, and leading Japanese corporations. The city’s integrated systems, scalable utilities, and future-ready infrastructure underscore its potential as India’s most ambitious greenfield smart industrial city and a globally competitive destination for next-generation industries.
