Marking the official start of his campaign for the Bihar Assembly Elections 2025, Chief Minister Mr. Nitish Kumar launched a high-energy public outreach from the politically significant North Bihar district of Muzaffarpur on Tuesday. Addressing packed rallies in Minapur and Kanti, Mr. Kumar showcased his government’s two-decade-long development record, unveiled his welfare roadmap, and rallied support for NDA candidates across the state.
Strong Start from Muzaffarpur: A Strategic Launch
Mr. Nitish Kumar arrived by helicopter in Minapur, where a massive rally was held at Minapur High School Ground. Accompanied by key leaders of the Janata Dal (United) and NDA allies, he emphasized the strategic importance of North Bihar constituencies like Minapur and Kanti in shaping the state’s political landscape.
Mr. Kumar’s message was clear: peace, development, and progress define modern Bihar, as opposed to the fear and lawlessness of the pre-2005 era.
“People once feared stepping outside after dark. But today, there is peace, love, and brotherhood in Bihar,” Mr. Kumar told the crowd.
Job Creation: 1 Crore Target Set for Youth
The Chief Minister’s biggest electoral promise centers around employment generation. Mr. Kumar stated that:
- 50 lakh youth have already secured government jobs
- 40 lakh more have been employed in other sectors
- The next target is to create 1 crore jobs over the next five years
This employment drive, he emphasized, reflects the government’s long-standing commitment to inclusive growth and youth empowerment.
Women’s Empowerment at the Core: Rs. 10,000 to Every Household
A major highlight of Mr. Kumar’s address was the Mukhyamantri Mahila Rojgar Yojana—a flagship scheme aimed at economic empowerment of women. Under this program:
- One woman from each household receives Rs. 10,000 to launch a small business
- 12.1 million women have already received the funds
- Successful entrepreneurs will be eligible for an additional Rs. 2 lakh in business expansion assistance
Mr. Kumar positioned this initiative as a turning point for women’s self-reliance and household income generation in rural Bihar.
NDA’s Campaign in Full Swing: PM Modi to Join from October 24
The JDU’s decision to begin its campaign from Muzaffarpur is widely viewed as a strategic move to consolidate key northern seats. The next phase of NDA’s campaign will expand into Sitamarhi, Darbhanga, Samastipur, Patna, Gaya, Bhagalpur, and Purnia, where large-scale rallies are planned.
The list of star campaigners released by the party includes:
- Chief Minister Mr. Nitish Kumar
- JDU National President Mr. Lallan Singh
- Senior leaders like Mr. Vijay Chaudhary, Mr. Sanjay Jha, and Mr. Ashok Chaudhary
Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi will officially join the Bihar election campaign on October 24, beginning with a visit to the village of Jananayak Karpuri Thakur, followed by major rallies in Samastipur and Begusarai.
