Reaffirming his vision of rapid infrastructure-led development, Chief Minister Mr. Yogi Adityanath emphasized that expressways are not just roads but the lifelines of Uttar Pradesh’s economy and industrial expansion. During a high-level review meeting of the Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA), the Chief Minister directed that the Ganga Expressway project be completed by December this year at all costs.
He stated that these expressways are redefining regional connectivity and will serve as economic corridors, linking industrial hubs, logistics parks, and new employment zones across the state.
Ganga Expressway to be Ready by December: Weekly Progress to Be Monitored
The Chief Minister ordered officials to ensure that the Ganga Expressway, which will connect the western and eastern parts of the state, is completed within the deadline. He stressed the importance of weekly progress reviews and maintaining the highest standards of construction quality.
Once completed, the 594-km-long Ganga Expressway will significantly reduce travel time, boost trade, and spur industrial investment across districts such as Meerut, Prayagraj, and Varanasi, transforming Uttar Pradesh’s connectivity landscape.
New Link Expressways to Expand Regional Connectivity
Mr. Adityanath reviewed progress on several new expressway link projects including the Meerut-Haridwar, Noida-Jewar, Chitrakoot-Rewa, and Vindhya-Purvanchal Link Expressways.
He directed that the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) network be taken into account while planning these new routes to avoid duplication and ensure a fully integrated transport system. “We must create a seamless expressway grid that links every part of the state with efficiency and speed,” the Chief Minister said.
These new corridors are expected to enhance connectivity to industrial towns, strengthen logistics, and support balanced regional growth.
Defense Industrial Corridor: A Gateway to Employment and Self-Reliance
Highlighting the growing potential of Uttar Pradesh’s Defense Industrial Corridor (DIC), Mr. Adityanath announced that skill development centers will soon be established in all six nodes — Lucknow, Kanpur, Jhansi, Agra, Aligarh, and Chitrakoot.
“Youth will receive advanced technical training and gain employment opportunities in defense manufacturing units. This will strengthen both our economy and national self-reliance,” he said.
The meeting was informed that investment proposals worth Rs. 30,819 crore have been received so far for the corridor, with 5,039 acres of land acquired and several companies already operational. The Defense Corridor is envisioned as a strategic hub for defense production and exports, aligning with the Make in India and Atmanirbhar Bharat initiatives.
Strict Policy for Land Allotment and Transparent Monitoring
In a bid to ensure accountability and prevent land misuse, Mr. Yogi Adityanath directed that any investor failing to utilize allotted land within three years will face cancellation of their allotment.
He also instructed officials to establish a transparent, digital monitoring system to assess actual progress and provide incentives only to those investors demonstrating tangible development.
This move aims to promote efficient land utilization, investor confidence, and sustainable industrial growth.
Industrial Clusters and Logistics Parks Along Expressways
To accelerate industrialization, the government is developing industrial clusters and logistics parks along all major expressways. The Chief Minister highlighted that UPEIDA has ensured infrastructure facilities including power, water supply, truck terminals, and emergency services to attract investors.
He urged timely completion of all associated projects, emphasizing that every expressway must become an engine of regional development.
Uttar Pradesh on Track to Become a Model State of Development
Chief Minister Mr. Yogi Adityanath concluded the meeting by stating that expressways are reshaping Uttar Pradesh’s economic destiny. With projects like the Ganga Expressway and Defense Industrial Corridor, Uttar Pradesh is emerging as a self-reliant, investment-friendly, and industrially advanced state.
“Expressways are not just roads — they are the backbone of our new Uttar Pradesh,” he said confidently. “Through these corridors of progress, we are connecting people, markets, and opportunities.”
